Dwarfs Started Evil!
Malatesta's
Carnival of Blood
dir.
Christopher Speeth, US, 1973, 35mm, 74 mins, color
Director
Christopher Speeth presents his own archival print (the only
35mm print in existence) which may never again be screened to
the public.
To
find their missing son, a family poses as new workers at a sinister
carnival. They soon find out it’s populated by ghouls, cannibals
and flesh-eating freaks, many of whom are obsessed with old
silent films. The late Herve Villechaize, best known as
"Tattoo" on television's Fantasy
Island, plays
a significant role in his first film.
Messiah
of Evil
dir.
Willard Huyck, US, 1973, 35mm, 90 mins, color
Written
by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz, who later went on to pen American
Graffiti, Messiah of Evil
is one of the finest, most neglected horror
films of the 1970s. Messiah of Evil
boasts some of the creepiest set pieces in 70s cinema
and a cast of well-loved cult film performers including Joy
Bang, Marianna Hill, Royal Dano, Anitra Ford and Elisha Cook,
Jr. You don't want to miss this rare screening.
$12
general admission. Available
one hour before showtime.
