With Live Soundtracks - A weekend of films with Live Scores
by Local Musicians
There
has always been an interesting world of the relationship between
music and film. Over the past decade, there has been a new trend
of musicians creating new scores to existing films. The history
has taken us from the questionable revised soundtrack of the
late 80’s version of Metropolis, (with songs by Queen)
to the beautifully revised version of Text Of Light,
a live soundtrack composed by Lee Renaldo (Sonic Youth) and
others, performing along with the films of Stan Brakhage. Films
With Live Soundtracks is the result of a local musicians being
asked to choose a film that they loved, and then creating a
new live soundtrack. The results are a weekend of local musicians
taking us into the musical realms of Electronica, Indie Rock,
Long-Form Experimental Improvisation and Cinematic Techno. The
films include B-Movies, Surrealist stop motion, Psychedelia,
and of course musical puppets.
