About Ryan Pyle

Ryan Pyle is an adventurer, television presenter, producer, public speaker and award-winning photographer. His career has spanned over a decade in some of the most exciting places on the planet. Ryan strives to shed light on locations and situations that are often kept in the dark.  Prior to 2010, Pyle was an award-winning photographer for magazines like the New York Times, TIME, Newsweek and Fortune.  Since then, he has enhanced his story-telling abilities by making adventure travel television programs that take place in remote parts of the world.  Pyle, a Canadian, moved to China in 2002 and established himself as a freelance photographer, traveling the country shooting for a host of publications, including The Wall Street Journal. In 2010, he turned the lenses on himself and his brother Colin as the two set off on a 65-day, 11,000 mile Guinness World Record breaking motorcycle journey that circumnavigated China. The pair captured their journey on video and wrote a book documenting their exploits, “The Middle Kingdom Ride: Two Brothers, Two Motorcycles, One Epic Journey Around China.” Their ride in China became the basis for Tough Rides (www.toughrides.tv), a series that can be seen on hulu, Netflix, iTunes and other media.  The second season of Tough Rides took viewers on the Pyle brothers’ enthralling ride in India, where they biked around its perimeter and discovered many visual and cultural wonders along the way.
