Visions Premiere
Join
us for a celebration of the premieres of the latest documentaries
by participants in Scribe’s Community Visions program. The program
features new films by:
Freire
Charter School
is a high school in Center City which builds on the insights
of the Brazilian educator-philosopher Paolo Freire in connecting
students' learning to family, home, workplace and community.
Mothers
in Charge and The Arts and Spirituality Center
have collaborated on a video about their Master Peace
Project, which is mobilizing teens and youth to look at the
impact of violence in our community and present alternatives
to violence through theater and the arts.
The
Aztec dance troupe, Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac,
has produced a video that explores the richness of native culture
and dance and presents a more realistic, human view of the lives
of Mexican immigrants and migrants.
The
District 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund plans,
develops, and implements healthcare training and preparatory
education programs for union members and members of the community.
Their video informs members of the community about the opportunities
available to them in the healthcare field.
The
Moorish Science Temple is the first and oldest Islamic
organization in the United States. Their video explores the
group's work and history with a video that aims to educate people
about the importance of having love and respect for one's true
national identity.
