us for extraordinary films from the African continent, organized
by Philadelphia filmmaker Filmon Mebrahtu of Reel
Voices. Each feature film will be paired with an
excerpt from Mebrahtu’s Rencontrer, a series of newly
produced documentary portraits of remarkable men and women in
West Philadelphia’s growing African community.

Africa
Dreaming is a landmark
in African television, a series drawing together for the first
time broadcasters, television producers, film directors and
writers from across the continent. Africa Dreaming
contains four 26 minute dramatic shorts on the broad theme of
"love in Africa":
Sophie's Homecoming by Richard Pakleppa (Namibia),
Sabriya by Adberrahmane Sissako (Tunisia),
So Be It by Joseph Gai Ramaka (Senegal),
and The Gaze Of The Stars by João Ribeiro (Mozambique).
