“FilmAid
International, through it's innovative work of Screening films
in refugee camps, makes a significant difference in the daily
lives of refugees” -
Kofi
Annan, Secretary-General, United Nations
Do
we have to describe this one? Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) discovers
“there’s no place like
home”. Transported from a sepia Kansas farm to the Technicolor
Land of Oz, Dorothy and
Toto, along with the Scarecrow, Tinman and Cowardly Lion embark
on a journey to find their
hearts’ desire. They encounter good and wicked witches, munchkins
and flying monkeys as they follow the Yellow Brick Road.
FilmAid
International’s Mission - To use the power of film
to promote health, strengthen communities, and enrich the lives
of the world's vulnerable and uprooted.
FilmAid
has been both effective in its mission and embraced by many
leading humanitarian organizations due to unwavering commitment
to its core principles:
FilmAid
works with local committees to ensure that the content used
in its programs is appropriate and relevant for the intended
audience. These Advisory Committees represent a cross-section
of the local population and engage the rarely heard voices of
women and youth. FilmAid collaborates with local communities
in program design, implementation and evaluation. FilmAid partners
with humanitarian experts and nongovernmental organizations
in the field. FilmAid performs ongoing evaluations to measure
results and identify possible program improvements.
